Seapoint, Wicklow TownInstaller: Evergreen Energy Ltd Installed: May 2006 Contact: Edward Gaynor, 0872497814, edward.gaynor@evergreenenergy.ie An Evergreen Energy 3 x AF21 solar kit was installed on the roof of this house situated on the outskirts of Wicklow Town. The panels are 2.1 square meters in area each and the panel construction is single flat plate absorber in an aluminium profile frame. The panels are mounted over the roof tiles. The roof on this house is not ideal for two reasons, first of all the pitch is only around 30° and secondly, the direction of the panels are facing a little too much in the South Westerly direction. However, despite this the house-owner is very happy with the performance of the panels, from early April until late September each year there is always enough hot water provided by the Sun to keep the family (2 Adults and 2 Toddlers) happy.

The 300L cylinder has been packed very tightly into the hot press and if you look at the reading on the display in the bottom right hand picture, then you will see that the temperature in the solar panels is reading 76.5°C. This photo was taken at 1:15 in the afternoon on April 10th 2008, there were clear skies outside and the outdoor temperature was 10.5°C |
